It’s good to be different!
Perky the Pukeko by Michelle Osment is a children’s tale about a pukeko, New Zealand’s purple swamp hen, who doesn’t quite fit in. One day a farmer gives an orphan egg to Bantam Hen, but when the egg hatches and Perky the Pukeko with his brilliant blue feathers and red beak emerges, everyone is surprised. What are they to do with Perky the Pukeko?
