Abigail the Fantail tells the story of a fantail, a small Australasian bird with a wide fan-like tail, named Abigail who is always on the move despite her mother’s advice to have a rest. Then one day her adventurous spirit gets the better of her when she loses her way after following a group of children. She spends the night all alone and frightened in the forest. Will she find her way home?

Janet Martin is a New Zealand  children’s author from the New Zealand city of Rotorua. She is known for writing rhyming children’s books about New Zealand’s many native bird species. Abigail the Fantail is one such book and is a great way to educate children about nature and birds.
